Most of LLI students take buses when going to school. So, Today I will try to introduce London’s bus system. When I came toLondon at first, I was a little surprised. There are fewer buses on the road. Actually, most of Canadians have their own car and London is not a big city. So, they don't have much chances and needs to take a bus. If you want to take bus without trouble, you should better be fully aware of my tip.
First, Buses don't run often. Even though weekday Buses run every 15minute or 30 minute. Between each bus there are big time gaps. So, you should check your bus timetable exactly. You can get the time table on the bus or LTC office, and you come about 5minute earlier than the expected time of arrival at the bus stop. If you miss the bus, you will be abandoned from your friends (and be late for class).
Another thing is some busses don’t serve on weekends!! Can you believe that?? Last weekend I tried to go to an appointment on a Sunday morning. I didn't check the time table, because I sometimes had taken the bus on weekday before. I waited about 40minute at the bus stop. Nobuses came tothe bus station. Finally I gave up taking the bus. That bus didn't serve on Sunday. I didn't have any way except calling off my appointment.
Lastly, if you can, you try to wait at a big bus stop. There are several cases that bus drivers missed people who wait at bus stops. Usually the bus driver wants to go quickly, and take a short rest at big bus stop. So unless you show exactly arriveto the bus driver, the bus might pass your bus stop. What I suggest is if you are close to big bus stop, go there and wait relaxed.
You can get other basic information in LTC website,http://www.ltconline.ca/. You can check the time table and see where your bus is in real time. Nevertheless, The London bus system willannoy you basically and will do. But if you make sure to use my tip, I think you never get in a big trouble.
