Knowing a little about LLI
When we came to this place, we came with expectations, hopes, and nervousness. This new experience; is exciting and emotions are overcoming our concerns. Involving in all things, we don’t think about that the same situation is happening with our classmates. We are thinking of this Country with the possibility of finding a second house; it’s not important how long we will be been staying here. However, our closest second house is the school, because every day we stay here the same situation six hours. We never asked ourselves about how many people like us have been staying here since the school has opened. It’s surprising how many people and the different Countries came to LLI.
We think that it is important to share some data about LLI:
LLI opened its doors in 1998, since then around 5000 students have came to study here.
Only the last year the school received 987 students.
And, which part of world these students are? Well we have students from Korea, Mexico, Brazil, Colombia, Venezuela, Japan, China, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Libya, and believe it or not from Canada too.
In the summer, most of LLI's students come from Spain and Brazil in the summer program. LLI has around 100 at any month and another 100 students more during the months July and August (The summer program).
In each week, LLI provides 23-30 hours of teaching, and if you take that number and multiply it by the number of the learners you will get around 2300-3000 hours of learning in class in a single week. In one session that would be close to 12,000 hours, and in a single level 24,000 hours. That's a huge number of hours if you though about how many hours one student may spend on learning at LLI in one year; that would be 23 hours by 48 weeks that totals 1104 hours.
Now what more interesting is the amount of the wasted time that totals after a long time period. In a case when a student is late 5 minutes for class every day, in a week that will result 25 wasted min in a week, 100 wasted min in month, 200 wasted min during a level. In the case someone was studying for a year, that would be 23 wasted hours that equals a whole week of teaching.
You can see here how numbers are powerful they hold a lot meanings to the ones who pay attention to them.
