Getting prepared for the winter!!!
If you do not feel prepared to face Canada’s winter, you should read this article, which contains some helpful tips to resist the hard winter coming soon. If you have to walk everyday or to go out without a vehicle, you need functional winter clothes, which goal is to keep you warm and dry, that is why even when you follow the tips below, you must go shopping considering: comfort, protection from low temperatures and keep your dry from rain or snow.
The different pieces of clothes you would need are listed in order of importance. A hat is the main piece to consider before any other, something that protects your ears from the cold. You would find hats made of different materials, if you can buy one made of wool is always the best, but using anything which protects your ears is more important, even if it is synthetic. Secondly, in the same importance of the hat you must protect your hands and feet with gloves and special socks. You can find gloves or mittens, mittens are better recommended, and socks made of wool or part wool is the best. In the third place comes the boots, which are the ones that will protect you from the snow. Do not try to buy fashionable boots, the most rustic ones are better to protect you from the cold, try to find ones made of rubber and a very good tread not to slip off when walking. Afterwards, you should find a waterproof coat and finally a scarf that helps you cover part of your face and neck. All these clothes are even better if they have insulate, you will feel a big difference of how it can take the warm out but does not let the cold get in. A daily tip after buying all these is to use many clothes layers with the purpose of controlling temperature yourself whether you are inside doors or outside by taking off or putting clothes on, respectively.
Now that you know what to buy, you must be wondering about prices and where to buy winter clothes. Four options I must recommend to you, the first two options are second hand clothes, they are very cheap and in great condition, that way you do not have to expend so much money in winter clothes If you are not staying long in Canada. Value Village is a good option, one is on East Dundas St. and the other one is on South Wellington Rd. Goodwill is another second hand store in Hurton St. at Wellington Rd. A third option is in case you want something new and relatively cheap, then you can find it at Wal-Mart, and you must Google the closest store to your home. Finally, if you want really good quality but expensive you can go shopping at Mark’s work warehouse, with great quality but high cost.
I will be informing you more tips, but now you have the basic equipment to face winter. Maybe you would feel some mood changes, but do not worry, experience drastic temperature changes could lead to tiredness and hunger, try to have a balanced diet enriched on healthy fat as it comes in nuts, olive oil and grains (e.i. chickpeas and beans), and be aware of not to eat saturated fat because after winter it will be difficult to lose weight and reduce the body damage.
Let’s say Welcome to winter time, and have a good time in this season with joy and good health!
